Dear Eighth Grade Band Members and Parents,

It has come to that time of the year, when we need to start thinking about what classes to take in high school and to start the preparation for the high school band.  Each year the high school band welcomes an incoming class of freshman to join its ranks.

  1. The high school band is a continuation of all the time, effort and money that has been invested throughout your middle school career.

  2. Try it for one year.  If at that point you have decided that it is not for you, you can at least make an informed decision.  It fulfills one of your arts and humanities credits. But I have to warn you, we have a 98% retention rate.

  3. We provide each student with exciting and new opportunities that cannot be found anywhere else.  The high school is about experiences and skills that you can use throughout your lifetime.

  4. Graduates that have participated in the band program have gone on to be highly successful college students with some receiving scholarships approaching $26,000 per year.

  5. Practices for the marching band only go from the beginning of the school year until the end of October.  They do not go all year long.

Please take your time and review the information that we have included and contact me at anytime with your questions.
