Band Student / Athlete Guidelines

These guidelines were established by the athletic director, band director, board, administration, and coaches.

Due to the concern regarding student-athletes and their participation in band and athletics, the following guidelines are aimed at alleviating the concern.

1. If the student - athlete has an athletic practice and band practice, he/she will report to band practice until 4:15 p.m. At 4:15 p.m., the band director will release the student - athlete for his/her athletic practice.

2. If the student - athlete has band practice and a home contest (which begins at

4:30 p.m.)., he/she is to be excused from band at 3:55 p.m.

3. If the student - athlete has an away athletic contest, he/she will excused from band practice, unless the departure time is at 4:30 p.m.. or later.

4. If the student - athlete has to depart for a band function, he/she is excused from the athletic practice 15 minutes prior to the band bus departure time.

5. If a student - athlete has a home contest that begins after 4:30 p.m., he/she is expected to attend band practice until 4:15 p.m..

6. Students should be agreeable to these guidelines in order to remain on the team and In the band. If a student does NOT agree or refuses to follow these guidelines, he/she must make a choice.

7. In no way will a student be “punished” or “disciplined” for following these stated procedures.

8. Any circumstances that arise, which are not covered by these guidelines, should be directed to the Director of Information & Sports (Mr. Casterline).
